About 30 issues considered in Belarusian parliament

The senators considered over 30 issues, among which was the bill on responsibility for drunk driving. The new edition suggests car confiscation for the second violation within a year and an increase in fines up to 10 million rubles. But there were many other issues discussed by the senators today.


Evgeny Pustovoi reports: Security was the main issue discussed by the senators and deputies today at the final meeting of the current second session. The document on drunk driving initiated by the President was unanimously ratified by MPs in two readings. Each year about 55.000 drunk drivers are caught. The new edition suggests car confiscation for the second violation within a year and an increase in fines up to 10 million rubles. If an accident involving a drunk driver leads to death of a person, the culprit can be imprisoned for a term of 5 to 10 years.


Among the introduction of international norms are non-return tariffs. Now the Belarusian air line company may have cheaper tickets, but without the possibility to return them.


The deputies considered 8 draft projects which concerned electrical city transport and subway.


The MPs also proved to the investors the attractiveness of the business climate in Belarus. The senators approved the draft law On concessions.


Over 30 draft projects were passed in the Council of Republic.
