Prime Ministers of Belarus and Russia discuss range of cooperation issues in Moscow

15 апреля 2024

Trade and new industrial cooperation projects are the main topics of the talks between the prime ministers of Belarus and Russia. A delegation led by our Prime Minister arrived in Moscow on April 15.

Roman Golovchenko was met by his colleague Mikhail Mishustin at the Government House. At the moment they have a one-on-one meeting. It lasts for more than an hour. Then negotiations in a broad format with the participation of the heads of the ministries of finance, economy and industry are planned as well. The main topics are bilateral exports and imports. In 2024, the mutual trade has already added 2.8% in 2 months. This is a plus to the high base of last year, when the trade turnover exceeded $53 billion. Today it is important to maintain the dynamics and launch new projects. In particular, the cooperation in aircraft construction and creation of a joint airplane are on the agenda.

Petr Parkhomchik, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus:

“We have signed an agreement between the 558th aircraft repair plant and the Ural Civil Aviation Plant, which produces airplanes. We are jointly developing an airplane, and Russia will provide us with resources to purchase the necessary equipment for its production. The agreement was signed at the level of industrial enterprises, now we will sign it at the level of the government.”

Among the discussed issues is cooperation in machine-tool construction, gas prices for Belarus from 2026 and oil supplies to refineries.
