Ensuring national security is the task of every Belarusian. This was stated by the President of Belarus at a meeting of the Security Council today. The most important documents - the Military Doctrine and the National Security Concept - were discussed at the Palace of Independence. They are being improved.

The draft of the new version of the concept was approved almost a year ago. But Alexander Lukashenko instructed to bring it to a wide public discussion, about 70 discussion platforms were held across the country. The document reflects new challenges. The tensions on the border are not subsiding, the sanctions pressure is not weakening.

Provoking conflicts and undermining the situation inside the country have become the norm. The National Security Concept should correspond to the current realities of the situation in the world and Belarus. New dangers are also reflected in the Military Doctrine. The task of all those involved is to provide for adequate measures of response and defense of the country.

The key areas of transformation of modern risks, challenges and threats in the sphere of national security are set out in the concept and the Military Doctrine in detail, the head of state said. "And many of the estimates and forecasts are already coming true," the Belarusian leader pointed out.

The President cited the situation in the Middle East as an example. "It is a terrible humanitarian catastrophe. Please note that threats to use nuclear weapons sounded almost immediately after the attack."
