German Chancellor Scholz asked Chinese President Xi Jinping to influence Russia so that "Putin stopped his campaign, withdrew his troops and ended the conflict".
Xi Jinping, in turn, emphasized that Europe should invite Russia to the negotiating table. At the same time, he asked the West not to provoke an escalation of the situation, using the Chinese euphemism "not to add oil to the fire" and not to transfer weapons to Ukraine.
