Minsk’s Victory Square to become center of Victory Day celebrations

By Ilona Krasutskaya (live): Victory Day festivities will traditionally be held today throughout Belarus, Minsk’s Victory Square to become the center of the celebrations. A ceremony of laying wreaths and flowers at the Victory Monument as part of the campaign Belarus Remembers will start there at 12:00. Traditionally, the symbolic Victory Banner and the banners of the four fronts that liberated Belarus from the Nazis will be brought to the Eternal Flame to the sounds of a solemn march. This will be followed by a wreath-laying ceremony, which will be attended by the President. Alexander Lukashenko will address Belarusians with a celebratory speech and declare a moment of silence in memory of the departed heroes.

Belarus is home to 10,500 veterans. Today, thousands of Belarusians and Minsk visitors will share their triumph in the Victory Square. The ceremony will be broadcast live.
