Situation around blocking of Kaliningrad transit continues to escalate

3 июля 2022
Vilnius is trying to demonstrate its belligerence and uncompromising nature. Germany calls for an end to the escalation.  And the situation is indeed acute.

Is the Suvalki Corridor a nightmare for NATO or an artificially created territory of tension? The intensity of this hypothetical hundred kilometers section between Belarus and Kaliningrad region is growing. They say that this is the place of the next world crisis and the beginning of the WWIII and that this is where the breakthrough of the allied forces in the direction of Kaliningrad will take place. Yet, neither Minsk, nor Moscow needs a corridor plot.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus:

“And everyone is shouting about some kind of Suvalki Corridor. Look, we do not talk about it, but they do. Are they hinting? Well, we have enough forces and means together with Russia, in order to deliver cargo to Kaliningrad without any wars and tensions.”

And indeed, today the relations between Belarus and Russia are so strong, that no incorporation is required, two independent states can keep pace and look in the same direction, militarily as well as economic. This example certainly frightens the West, which knows the principles of existence only on the terms of dominance. The situation on the borders is acute. Diplomacy is being cut off. The economic war, although damaging to the Europeans themselves, is calculated to hit every Belarusian and Russian. All this is going on against the background of the training of the Western aircraft to use nuclear weapons, while we, as Alexander Lukashenko pointed out, are watching it and are not responsible for it yet. All this really reminds of 1941, but then we hoped to the last and believed in the power of treaties and documents. We have learned from history - we keep our powder dry.

The West is not just escalating, it is arranging provocations. Who needs a second Baltic front? Lithuania plays the card of economic blockade of the Russian exclave, where, by the way, the headquarters of the Baltic fleet and, accordingly, an impressive interspecific military grouping of four divisions on about 50 thousand people is located. On the other side of the notorious corridor is the army of our country. And in between, there are armies of the Baltic States have more than 30,000 men. Of course, this is not a constant, the number is constantly fluctuating - from time to time American and British military personnel come to the Baltics. But that is not the point. Playing the tension card between Kaliningrad and Belarus, Lithuania's motives are absolutely clear. It needs attention no less than Ukraine - after all, it has become a perfect example of how easily a war can be sold for a decent sum. And if Lithuania is in the spotlight, you can get a bigger NATO presence, which will require more of the alliance's finances.

The situation around the blocking of transit to Kaliningrad continues to heat up

Harald Kujat, former head of NATO Military Committee (Germany):

“Look at Kaliningrad, please. It is the former Konigsberg - this is also mentioned again from time to time. It's heavily manned militarily. There are missile complexes stationed there. It's definitely enough to get to Berlin. This is an advantage for Russia, an advantageous (militarily) position. Geostrategic and other advantages are on Russia's side. And when you're in that situation, it's stupid and dangerous to tempt fate. It's like Russian roulette.”

Maxim Makarov, executive director of Regional Public Organization "Russian Community of Kaliningrad Region":

The present suicidal actions of Lithuania on restriction of a transit of the cargoes arriving in Kaliningrad from the main territory of Russia, testify that the puppet pro-American management of Lithuania simply dreams about the beginning of military operations on its and neighboring territories.
