Belarusian hockey player Konstantin Koltsov farewelled in Minsk

A sad day for the whole Belarusian sport. They said goodbye to hockey player Konstantin Koltsov. Symbolically, the ceremony took place in Gorky Park at the indoor rink of Minsk "Yunost". The striker once started playing hockey in the school of this very club, which helped him to make a bright professional career.

In different years, the forward played for Dynamo Moscow, Severstal Cherepovets, Metallurg Novokuznetsk, Ak-Bars Kazan, Spartak Moscow and Salavat Yulaev Ufa. In addition, Konstantin spent three seasons in the NHL for the Pittsburgh Penguins. The player left a big mark in the history of the Belarusian national team. He participated in two Olympics and ten World Championships, leading the national team on the ice with the captain's patch. And in recent years, the athlete worked as a coach and loved working with young people. It was under him that our young stars - Suvorov, Kuzmin, Denisov, Martynov and Kolosov – became stars.

Many of these guys came to say goodbye to the mentor as well as a flow of relatives, friends, fans, hockey players, coaches, officials, representatives of other sports, journalists. A delegation of Salavat Yulaev arrived from Russia with head coach Viktor Kozlov. Koltsov was the first Belarusian to win the Gagarin Cup as a member of the Ufa team. And this club became Konstantin's last place of work.
