Belarus' first operation to restore destroyed vertebra held in Gomel

The so-called kyphoplasty does not require using a scalpel. With the help of special equipment and X-ray control a silicone balloon is injected in the body of a broken vertebra. Special bone cement is injected afterwards. It strengthens the vertebrae from inside. The operation was held by German professor Christian Kasperk. Belarusian neurosurgeons assisted him. The operation was successful.
