Any attempt to redraw the memory of the Belarusian people will get a tough response. This was stated to reporters by Deputy Head of President’s Office Igor Lutsky, BelTA informs.

Staff members of the President’s Office laid flowers at the monument to the underground fighters in Alexander Square in Minsk on the occasion of the Day of National Remembrance of the Great Patriotic War victims and the genocide of the Belarusian people.

"The entire Belarusian people honor and remember all the events that took place in our land during the war. The fact that today people go to the memorials out of the heart and soul is an answer to all those scoundrels who try to erase our memory of the atrocities that were committed on our land," said Igor Lutsky.

Deputy Head of the President’s Office is convinced that no one will be able to erase the memory of the Belarusian people of the events of the Great Patriotic War. "This memory is sacred for us. We educate our children on the basis of the feat of arms of the Belarusian people because we want to live in a peaceful, calm, independent and sovereign country. Any attempts to erase our memory will always get a harsh response," he stressed.

Igor Lutsky assured that neither May 9 nor June 22 would be erased from the memory of the Belarusian people. "We are on the eve of a big national holiday - Independence Day. It is a very important event to understand who we are, where we are going and what we are doing. Belarus is an independent and sovereign state, and we will live in peace," concluded Igor Lutsky.
