"In Belgorod and Belgorod district the siren of missile danger has been launched. If you are at home - do not go to the windows. Take shelter in rooms without windows with solid walls (corridor, bathroom, toilet, pantry). If you are on the street - go down to a shelter or other safe place", - said the message of the governor of the region Vyacheslav Gladkov.
The Russian Defense Ministry said that air defense assets destroyed 14 RM-70 Vampire MLRS missiles over the territory of the Belgorod region.
"On February 15 at about 12:30, an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack on facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation using an RM-70 Vampire multiple rocket launcher system was foiled. On-duty air defense means destroyed 14 missile over the territory of Belgorod region", - noted in the department.
What is known about the destruction
At about 13:00 it was reported that a shopping center on Plekhanova Street in Belgorod, which houses a Magnit store and a pharmacy, came under missile fire. The building's windows were blown out, the facade was damaged, as well as cars parked nearby.
Later, Gladkov reported that in Belgorod, in addition to the shopping center, seven private houses were damaged - windows were broken, roofs and fences were damaged. In five apartment buildings, windows were broken in several apartments, and about five cars were damaged by shrapnel. One store was also damaged and there was damage to the territory of an industrial enterprise.
At the same time, according to RT, one of the strikes came to the stadium of a Belgorod school. Another came in a courtyard - near a kindergarten.
According to preliminary data, the missile attack on Belgorod killed 6 people, including one child. Another 17 people were injured, five of them - children.
The ambulance crews are taking the injured to medical facilities. At the moment hospitalization was required for 15 victims. Their condition is not reported.
