In the Gaza Strip, 70% of the population suffers from a catastrophic level of hunger: people eat grass, animal feed, collect garbage and drink dirty water. CNN quotes the UN report.

More than 2 million people do not have enough food, half of them are on the verge of starvation. The organization's secretary general Antonio Guterres said that this is "the largest number of people facing catastrophic hunger ever recorded on the planet."

The UN is calling on Israel to allow full access of humanitarian supplies to Gaza.
