A new attempt to tame intractable Serbia. MEPs voted in favor of a resolution "On elections in Serbia", where they pointed out that the parliamentary and local elections of December 17, 2023 were held "below the expected standards for an EU candidate country". Allegedly there were shortcomings noticed by international observers. MEPs are now demanding investigations into the irregularities, as one of the conditions for Serbia's accession to the EU.
In May, the European Parliament already delivered to Belgrade a similar ultimatum, demanding that Serbia impose sanctions against Russia.
