Inflation in U.S. sets record

10 марта 2024

The annual inflation in the United States at the end of February reached almost 8%. This is the maximum for the last 40 years (since January 1982), reports the Ministry of Labor. Against the background of aggravation of the Ukrainian crisis and the U.S. refusal of Russian oil and gas, the price growth will exceed 8% and will continue to accelerate for several months, economists believe.

The unemployment rate is also growing. It has reached the maximum for the last two years. The share of the unemployed amounted to almost 4%, despite the fact that 275 thousand jobs were created. According to statistics, the number of unemployed has now reached 6.5 million people. A year earlier, this figure was at 6 million. Among the reasons for the growth, experts cite a decline in demand for goods and services, low growth in hourly wages and a slowdown in the national economy.
