The James Webb telescope has begun studying exoplanet K2-18b, which may have life on it - The Times.
It has detected the gas on it, which is produced on the Earth only by living organisms, mainly "phytoplankton in a marine environment". Astronomers suggest that K2-18b, which is 124 light-years away from Earth, may belong to a common type of oceanic planet.
The leader of the study, an astrophysicist from Cambridge, admitted that the discovery of the gas was a "real shock" for him, and he could not even sleep for a week because of it.
