President of Belarus counts on improving relations with USA

Minsk has become a major platform for political dialogue these days. The meeting of the Core Group of the Munich Security Conference, which takes place in the Belarusian capital, is an opportunity to discuss the international agenda at a high level and expand cooperation with partners.

The most important bilateral meeting was held in the Palace of Independence. The Belarusian President and Aaron Wess Mitchell, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs focused on bilateral Belarusian-American relations, as well as global and regional issues. The parties noted the progress in relations and expressed interest in building up political and economic cooperation.

The agenda of the visit of the American diplomat, in addition to issues of ensuring global and regional security includes de-escalation of tension in the European region and prospects for trade and economic cooperation.

Last year, Belarusian exports of services reached the highest level in the history of bilateral relations, 570 million dollars. The main export items are computer engineering, telecommunications and information services.
