President of Belarus arrives in Chernobyl for anniversary of nuclear explosion

Alexander Lukashenko was personally met by Petr Poroshenko. Together the heads of the states honored the memory of the dead liquidators. They laid flower baskets to the Memory Wall of the memorial complex Heroes of Chernobyl.

Now the Presidents are visiting the nuclear power plant and the nearest sites. The main attention will be paid to the work on maintaining the radiation safety at a higher level, because it affects the interests of the inhabitants of the countries. The leaders will get acquainted with the construction of a new sarcophagus and storage of the reproduced nuclear fuel.

Today, Alexander Lukashenko and Petr Poroshenko will hold talks in the territory of Belarus. The heads of states will discuss the bilateral cooperation in trade and economic sphere, as well as political interaction, the international agenda and further efforts for peaceful settlement of the conflict in the South-East of Ukraine.
