The honest position of Belarus on international problems and rejection of hypocritical interpretation of international human rights obligations causes irritation in the West. This was stated in the Permanent Mission of Belarus in Geneva, commenting on the adoption on July 13 by the UN Human Rights Council of the next resolution of the European Union and the United States "The situation of human rights in Belarus" and the extension of the mandate of the special rapporteur on this issue for one year, writes BELTA.
There is a group of countries manipulating human rights mechanisms to promote their geopolitical interests, masking them with human rights concerns. And for many years they have been exerting pressure on Belarus through resolutions and mechanisms of the UN Human Rights Council. Larisa Belskaya, permanent representative of our country in Geneva, pointed this out in her speech at the 53rd session of the UNHRC.
"The real reason for this is not in the human rights situation in Belarus, which is in no way worse, and by a number of indicators even better than in some Western states. The reasons are in the geopolitical choice of Belarus, in the honest, but inconvenient for Western governments position of Belarus on international problems and rejection of hypocritical interpretation of international obligations on human rights," she stressed
