Chairman of the Supreme State Council, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has signed the Decree on the approval of the Union State budget for 2024. This was reported to BELTA by the Standing Committee of the Union State with reference to State Secretary Dmitry Mezentsev.
The State Secretary also noted that the budget was approved by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"It is significant that we will start the new year with a fundamental financial document, which means that the financing of Union programs for the next year will start on time. The Standing Committee will ensure the execution of the Union budget in full and considers it an unconditional priority for itself," commented on the document Dmitry Mezentsev.
According to him, the contribution of Belarus and Russia to the Union budget has been increased for the first time by 38% - this will ensure the expansion of the number of programs, projects and activities of the Union State. "It is important that next year not only their number will be expanded - in the field of high technology, defense and security, the number of activities in the cultural and humanitarian, educational and civic-patriotic spheres has been increased by almost a third. We see this as a response to people's demand, in support of the position of the parties to expand the scale of economic integration, strengthening interregional and interparliamentary cooperation," the State Secretary emphasized.
