14 марта 2024

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed Decree No. 96 "On the National Center of Legislation and Legal Information of the Republic of Belarus" on March 14, BELTA reports citing the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The document provides for the reorganization of the National Center of Legislation and Legal Research and the National Center of Legal Information by merging them and creating a single center subordinate to the head of state. This will unite the personnel, scientific and technological potential of the previously operating structures, eliminate duplicate functions and improve the efficiency of activities in the relevant areas of legal work.

At the same time, the center will be vested with two new powers, such as the development of the most important legal acts using the package principle (for example, simultaneous preparation of draft laws and related presidential acts), as well as additional independent examination of all types of legal acts on the instructions of the head of state or the Presidential Administration.

The general management of the Center's activities is entrusted to the Presidential Administration.

The establishment of the National Center for Legislation and Legal Information, as well as related organizational activities will be completed by July 1, 2024.
