We do not have and will not have another home! The strong speech of the Belarusian leader delivered at World Climate Summit in Dubai

1 декабря 2023

We should seriously think about the future of the Earth and abandon the policy of confrontation. Alexander Lukashenko made such an appeal to the world and world politicians today, speaking at the large-scale climate summit in Dubai. The planetary forum is held under the auspices of the UN. More than 140 world leaders are taking part in it.

The Belarusian leader addressed the politicians of the planet with a heartfelt appeal - to think about the future.

А. Lukashenko: We must be united in the face of the global challenge

"Today we, the leaders of the world's states, are talking about the future of the planet Earth - our common home. We have never had and will never have another home. We are talking about the future of our children and grandchildren. We are talking about the future of all those who will come into this world after us. We represent different cultures, different value systems, different civilizations. But we are united in the face of the global challenge posed by nature itself," Alexander Lukashenko emphasized.

The President stated that the climate is changing, scientists make the bleakest forecasts.

The Belarusian leader named the root causes of the climate threat

"They are gloomy not because scientists are such pessimists. Global warming really threatens the disappearance of island countries, drought, famine and water shortage. The arrival of so many of the planet's top leaders already confirms that the threat is seen and ready to respond. But maybe we should think about what is the root of the evil? "

А. Lukashenko: Thirst for profit turns natural resources into personal capital and steals from future generations

"First of all, it is the lack of a sense of proportion in the pursuit of geopolitical, including military (I would say, first of all, military) superiority of those who provoke and ignite hotbeds of wars in different corners of the planet. And wars are the main source of filth on our continent. It is the thirst for profit, which turns natural resources into personal capital and steals from future generations. It is an attempt to remove from its path the entire countries, subjugate the whole world and destroy it, pulling out all the juices from the earth. And everything is done sometimes ostensibly for the purposes of sustainable development (there is such a program in the UN)," drew the attention the Belarusian leader.

Alexander Lukashenko noted that Belarus fully meets its obligations under the Paris Agreement and even exceeds them.

"We provide invaluable "ecosystem services" to our continent, preserving a unique source of oxygen - natural swamps, forests, "the lungs of Europe." We develop green and nuclear energy, minimizing the risks of climate change. Paradoxically, but in response we receive new economic sanctions, barriers to international trade, and restricted access to technology. And we are not the only ones. It is time to recognize that the green agenda makes no sense in a confrontational environment. It requires respect for the sovereignty of countries and unconditional justice!" - said the Belarusian leader

The President emphasized that one cannot crush political opponents with sanctions and at the same time demand costly solutions for national economies - solutions on which the cleanliness of the entire atmosphere, all groundwater and the world's oceans depends.

"And another thing: how can we expect costly effective climate conservation measures from countries and peoples that have not yet recovered from colonial oppression?" - noted the head of state.

The Belarusian leader voiced proposals on how to clean up the planet!

Minsk's proposals on climate security are simple.

"Belarus calls on all those who are obliged to assume the burden of historical responsibility: first - to make a commensurate contribution to the solution of climate security issues for all the centuries of thoughtless attitude to nature; second - to strengthen support for developing countries and states with economies in transition; third - to stop voicing "concerns" and start acting to preserve life on Earth," said Alexander Lukashenko. - We have no moral right to live only for ourselves. We should look beyond the horizon, respect the laws of nature and create the basis for the continuation of the human race here on our planet. We do not have and will not have another home!"

The President is tough and direct about the root of climate problems

"All the speakers, especially the speakers from the speakers who spoke here first, were concerned: and where to get the money? Oh, come on. Even the journalists sitting here will tell you where to get the money. To answer this question, we need to look into recent history. Example. In order to destroy Iraq and Afghanistan and bring "good" to these countries for the people, it is estimated that 1.5 to 2 trillion dollars was spent. Iraq and Afghanistan cost the aggressor about 2 trillion dollars. And count how much money went into defending those countries? And how many people died? You can't put a dollar value on that. Today there is a war in Ukraine. It is no longer 1.5-2 trillion dollars. It will already cost 5 trillion dollars, if we manage to agree on peace in the near future," the President said.

"Why is there no peace in this part of the planet today? Because those speakers, who were in the front rows, talk about peace, talk about keeping the planet clean, worry about their grandchildren, but at the same time they have unleashed and are waging the most terrible war on the planet," Alexander Lukashenko pointed out. - How much will the slaughter cost in the Middle East? And if it breaks out in the Pacific Ocean? It's trillions, trillions of dollars. So let's direct them to the cleanliness of the planet. And there will be no need to look for this money".

"We are here to once again express our concerns. And those who spoke here in the front rows, "concerned for their grandchildren", they are waging these wars. And wars are a terrible pollution of the planet. Let us stop it. Therefore, the most important thing is that we need to learn to say less words and do more. I realize that if we adopt a declaration or a memorandum, as we always do, we are unlikely to be able to do more.

As the speakers said here, again at the beginning, 80% of the dirt on the planet comes from the 20 leading nations. Let's put in the declaration, Mr. Chairman, not concern, but demand that they cut their emissions at least by half. We won't do that. So why are we here? Here's the money, the real money. 10 trillion dollars, which we can use to clean up our planet by stopping wars," said the Belarusian leader. - And let's act. If we don't start acting, nature will force us to live by its laws.

The open and tough speech of Alexander Lukashenko broke the applause of the world summit.

Those who were listening to the Belarusian leader in the hall jumped up at the end of his speech! Because it was said on target. Journalists had not seen such a reaction to politicians during the whole day of speeches.

While answering a journalist's question how he assessed the organization of the summit, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the UEA had done well. "It is unimaginable - to organize more than a UN session on a bare place," said the Belarusian head of state.
