19th summit of Non-Aligned Movement: Uganda determined to cooperate with Belarus

Active work continues in the African city of Kampala on the margins of the 19th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement.

On January 18, the head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry took part in the fifth ministerial meeting of the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter. Sergei Aleinik also held a number of talks with representatives of Algeria, the Philippines, DPRK and Uganda itself. Among the issues discussed were cooperation in agriculture, supplies of Belarusian machinery and cooperation projects. Thus, the Algerian Foreign Minister drew attention to the high quality of Belarusian products and wide recognition of the merits of Belarusian machinery. Foreign Minister of Uganda confirmed plans to pay an official visit to Minsk in 2024.

In addition, Sergei Aleinik held talks with his Indian counterpart. The ministers discussed the increase in mutual trade, the development of joint projects, the creation of a single currency system within the BRICS framework. The parties also agreed to hold a meeting of the Belarusian-Indian intergovernmental commission for cooperation in trade, economy, industry and science in Minsk.

January 19, Sergei Aleinik spoke at the plenary session of the Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement. He noted that there were more and more conflicts on the planet and the role of the Non-Aligned Movement in their possible settlement could not be overestimated
