Following the meeting of the Security Council, Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin told journalists about the main provisions of the new draft Military Doctrine of Belarus, BELTA reports.

First of all, the Minister drew attention to the importance and significance of the Military Doctrine for the Belarusian state. "This is a fundamental document, which reflects the basic views of the state on peace and war, on the use of military force in response to the existing challenges and threats," he said.

According to him, the draft of the updated Military Doctrine takes into account the changed situation, contains a number of innovations, but in general retains continuity and the basic message about the peace-loving nature of the Belarusian people. "We clearly emphasize and say in it the updated Military Doctrine that Belarus does not considered any nation as its enemy, despite the actions of their governments. This is the key message, the spirit of the Military Doctrine," said Viktor Khrenin.

Among the important innovations, he called, for example, targeting, i.e. a clear indication of the sources of military threats to Belarus. At the same time, unlike NATO countries, which in their military documents directly name enemies, listing specific countries, Belarus indicates the alleged sources of threats. "We clearly name the sources of threats and from which countries they come," explained Viktor Khrenin.
