Ministry of Sports of Russia awards medals to outstanding athletes and coaches

The National Olympic Committee has awarded famous representatives of Belarusian sport with jubilee medals of the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation, BELTA reports.

The famous athletes and coaches received medals of the Ministry of Sport of Russia, dedicated to the centenary of the formation of the state body of management in the field of physical culture and sports. A total of 20 people were honored from the Belarusian side: Olympic champions Andrei Barbashinsky (handball), Leonid Geishtor (canoeing), Elina Zvereva (athletics), Vladimir Kaminsky (cycling), Alexander Karshakevich (handball), Antonina Koshel (artistic gymnastics), Marina Lobach (rhythmic gymnastics), Alexander Maseikov (canoeing) and Alexander Medved (freestyle wrestling), Games medalist Igor Lapshin (athletics), honored coaches Gennady Vishnyakov (Paralympics), Evgeny Vorsin (hockey), Mikhail Dvoryakov (cycling), Irina Leparskaya (free calisthenics), Spartak Mironovich (handball), Oleg Raichlin (freestyle wrestling), Leonid Khromenkov, Vladimir Shantarovich (canoeing) and Dmitry Shichko (fencing), as well as head of the Belarusian Handball Federation Vladimir Konoplev.

"Each of those gathered here today has made a huge contribution to the development of sport in the Soviet Union and the Republic of Belarus and continues this work to this day. Last week, a similar event was held in Russia.
