Independence Day celebrations in Gomel will open with a procession featuring war and labor veterans, the region’s authorities and city residents. 22 coats of arms of the Gomel region, Gomel and all regional centers will be carried ahead of the column. Flowers will be laid at the mass grave of Soviet soldiers and partisans.
The festivities will continue with an entertainment program, which includes a Belarusian fashion festival, a national embroidered shirt festival, gastronomy competitions, as well as high-speed maneuvering demonstrations and an exhibition of specialized equipment to be presented by the traffic police. An artisan exhibition fair will unfold on the embankment of the river Sozh.
