The holiday was established on 5 May, 1912 with the release of the first issue of the Bolshevik newspaper Pravda.
Currently, Belarusian media comprise of more than 1,000 print and nearly 270 electronic media as well as of 9 news agencies.
Today will see the opening of the international exhibition Mass Media in Belarus: Words for Peace dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory, which will be followed by the Golden Letter award ceremony in the evening.
