Brest and Bereza get twin cities in Chinese province of Anhui

Brest and Bereza got twin cities in the Chinese province of Anhui. Agreements on international cooperation were signed during the visit of the Brest Region delegation to China, BELTA reports with reference to the press service of the Brest Region Executive Committee.

The delegation of the southwestern region is headed by Deputy Chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee Dmitry Gorodetsky. He thanked the host for organizing the meeting in Anhui province.

"This meeting testifies to the interest of both sides in further development of strong, mutually beneficial, friendly relations between our regions," said Dmitry Gorodetsky. Brest region and Anhui province brought their relations to a new level in September 2017 by signing an agreement on the establishment of friendly ties.

"We are ready to offer services for the conversion of wagons from narrow European gauge to broad gauge, as well as the implementation of the project to create a transport and logistics hub in the Brest region. Brest is a nodal point of the "Silk Road" and an important element of the cross-border corridor to promote the project "Freight trains from China to Europe". Brest Region is ready to provide the Chinese side with a site for the project to build an educational center," said the deputy chairman of Brest Regional Executive Committee.
