New names of most promising scientists of our country announced

As a result of secret voting, 5 academicians and 22 corresponding members were elected. Today the Academy of Sciences held elections. The requirements are extremely strict, because the vacancy of an academician and a correspondent member is for life.

2 days before the elections, the best scientists were chosen in their field. Among the requirements for applicants is the availability of monographs, the introduction of developments, and international publications. But the main criterion is a significant contribution to the economy of the country.

Mikhail Myasnikovich, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly: "I looked carefully at the candidates and I am happy that many have created really good scientific schools in promising sectors. That chemistry of polymers is very relevant, issues related to biotechnology. So it seems to me that in this part there is a definite such support for the real sector of the economy."

The average age of the elected academicians is 64 years.
