By Alexander Khorovets: About 600 rats, 300 mice and 30 rabbits are held in the Belarusian Medical Laboratory. Scientists make experiments on them to design medicine for liver cirrhosis, cancer and thrombosis. Only physically and mentally fir animals are used for the experiments. They are fed with healthy products.
Natalia Veyalkina, the researcher at Physical Pathologies Laboratory: We give oats, feedstuff, cereals, cottage cheese and other milk products to them.
But more and more scientists refuse from making experiments on animals. In many universities students use video materials and computer programs, which is a good substitute for stuffed animals. The laboratory uses animals in researches in 10 fields including drugs design, search for therapeutic and surgical methods of treatment, which can result in may saved human lives.
