Countering spread of coronavirus controlled by President

7 апреля 2020
At the meeting in the Palace of Independence they talked about the readiness of the Belarusian health care to resist the spread of infectious diseases. A wide range of responsible managers and specialists were invited including governors, heads of regional health care institutions, heads of clinics. The vertical power in the regions has to be connected as much as possible.

In a few months, from a local outbreak, coronavirus has become the number one problem for the entire planet, almost stopping the whole economy! The enterprises are stopped, technological chains are broken, small businesses go bankrupt. A tragedy unseen since the end of World War II and all this is fueled by a stream of news about COVID-19, which only increases panic.

What will happen after the pandemic is an open question. It is already obvious that not just factories, but entire industries, and maybe even states will be on the edge of the abyss.

Natalia Eismont, Press Secretary of the President of Belarus: "This meeting was in no way spontaneous. The head of state had already announced it last week, but even before that, for two weeks the President had been gathering information from a variety of sources and specialists. After today he gathered the specialists for a large and detailed conversation. At the same time, the society received answers to its questions, and many officials received direct orders in various directions.

The President understands the gravity of the situation and does not hide that it will not be easy. Now the country is doing its best to overcome this difficult period. The head of state said it very clearly: we don't know what the world will be like after this pandemic."

The two most important issues are the economy and human health. All forces have been thrown to preserve both, all institutions of the state have been mobilized, and everything that is necessary in this situation is being done. We have so far managed to contain an avalanche-like increase in morbidity and prevent an outbreak of the infection. According to the Ministry of Health, there have been no new deaths from coronavirus infection today. The coronavirus situation is under medical control.
