Ministry of Agriculture and Food comments on embargo on number of food products

The market will be provided with food and enterprises will get raw materials. Today, the Ministry of Agriculture commented on the food embargo on a number of products as of January 1. Belarus has long been ensuring its own food security. The country has a double stock of meat and dairy products. The range will only expand, so the consumer will not suffer. As for  the fruit and vegetables, they will stay on the shelves.

Alexei Bogdanov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Belarus: "Of course, in the off-season we import some vegetables and fruits. But we don't expect any problems here either. Many goods imported from the EU were transited. Therefore, our commercial structures, which deal with imports, need to quickly reorient themselves directly to the producers. Probably it will be even cheaper than through some intermediary in Europe."

The food embargo will not affect the plans for export. At the end of the year, a figure of more than 6 billion dollars is expected.
