Hundreds of death camps and ghettos were set up in Belarus by Third Reich

During the Great Patriotic War Belarus lost every third inhabitant; about 10 thousand settlements were burnt down completely or partly during the occupation.. The policy of genocide on the part of Nazi Germany against our people was systematic in nature. It had been thoroughly planned and elaborated in the Third Reich long before June 1941.

There were hundreds of death camps, ghettos and stalags in the territory of Belarus. No other occupied country had such a large number. In 1943 the Nazis began to cover up their crimes. They develop "Operation 1005". There was no documentation. It was a top-secret operation. Hitler's Germany carefully concealed it. The leadership of Nazi Germany realized that it was necessary to liquidate the traces of their crimes, committed mostly against the civilian population in the occupied territories of Eastern Europe. This means to exhume and burn. in the literal sense, to dig graves and liquidate corpses, turn them into ashes.
