Minsk hosting European Rapid and Blitz Championships

The most significant event in Belarusian chess over the past 15 years, which has launched today, will feature representatives of over 30 countries. Those who needed visas got them for free. About 700 chess players applied for the Blitz Championships. The winner will receive 2,000 euros, the silver and bronze winners will be awarded 1,000 and 800 euros respectively.

The Belarusian team at the home tournament is represented by the strongest players, lacking only Andrei Zhigalko.

Today and tomorrow the Palace of Sports will be hosting rapid chess competitions, 50 games of each round to be broadcast online.
