Both Belarus and Russia are open to any friendly steps towards each other. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a performance-concert in St. Petersburg, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade, BelTA reports.

"We are peaceful people. We do not want war. But the question of the right to life of our civilization, the preservation of native values, national cultures has been put before us again. We don't want anything foreign, especially those benefits, which were not once imposed on our ancestors by fire and sword. And yet. Both after the Victory and today we call for peaceful dialogue, but on condition of respect for our historical memory and the truth about that war. We are open to any friendly steps towards us - both in Russia and Belarus," emphasized the head of state.

He reminded that 80 years ago the complete lifting of the siege of Leningrad made the Great Victory even closer. "We have to celebrate many anniversaries of great battles and battles, which eventually stopped the most brutal war in the history of mankind," Alexander Lukashenko added.
