"The most important thing is that peace and tranquility should be restored in Palestine, so that people did not suffer and die." Commenting on the situation in the Middle East, this was stated by Speaker of the Council of the Republic Natalia Kochanova during a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Palestine to Belarus Ahmed Mohammed al-Madbuh. According to the speaker of the upper house of parliament, the Belarusian people deeply regret this tragedy. We know better than anyone how terrible it is when innocent women and children are killed.

Natalia Kochanova emphasized the position of our state - the need to stop the bloodshed and peacefully resolve the Middle East conflict. The Presidium of the Council of the Republic has already made several statements with an appeal to its fellow parliamentarians of all countries. Today, we cannot allow further escalation of the situation in the region and an increase in civilian casualties. According to the latest data, the number of people killed in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the conflict between Israel and Palestine has exceeded 23 thousand. Natalia Kochanova emphasized that "every people has the right to its self-determination and a quiet life".

More than 40 Belarusian citizens and their relatives were evacuated from the Gaza Strip to our country. A humanitarian special flight to Egypt was organized for those who wished to leave the war zone. Upon their return, adults and children were provided with all the necessary assistance in our homeland.
