Over 7,700 people nominated as candidates in local elections in Belarus

Over 7,700 people have been nominated as candidates for the local elections in Belarus. Nearly 70% were nominated through collecting signatures. About a third of candidates represent labour collectives and the smallest number of all comes from political parties. Over 4,000 candidates for the post of a deputy are women. The nomination of candidates for deputies will end on 8 January.
