The nuclear power plant is, without exaggeration, a milestone in the national history. Our future is people's comfort and the country's energy security. No matter how skeptics may squirm, from now on the peaceful atom is at the service of the Belarusian economy.

The decision to build the plant was taken by the head of state back in 2008.
It was difficult, we were getting back on our feet after the collapse of the Soviet Union with all the problems, including Chernobyl. The decision was not easy, but it was a strong-willed one. It turned out to be timely.
