State Customs Committee: Polish innovation will further aggravate European business

31 мая 2023

The ban by the Polish side on the movement of trucks and trailers across the border will have a negative impact on European business, predict the State Customs Committee of Belarus. Carriers will now have to overload goods. We remind you that Poland introduces a complete ban on the movement of all types of Belarusian and Russian trucks, including trailers and semi-trailers, across the Belarusian-Polish border from tomorrow. The entry of truck tractors, registered in Belarus and Russia, into the territory of the EU countries has been prohibited since last April. However, previously one managed to circumvent this ban by hooking up with a trailer. The innovations have prohibited these actions, too.

Sergey Fedorov, head of the main department of the State Customs Committee of Belarus:

“The new measures made it even more difficult for businesses, but I want to note that the Belarusian customs will take all necessary measures to ensure the flow of goods across the border in the shortest possible time and with the greatest efficiency. Additionally, I would like to note and draw the attention of carriers, as well as consignors and consignees of cargo to timely provide information to customs authorities in order to ensure that customs operations are performed in the shortest possible time.”

Today Kozlovichi remains the only functioning checkpoint on the Belarusian-Polish border for trucks. Most likely, another ban by the Polish side will complicate the already tense situation for carriers. This ban applies only to the Belarusian-Polish border. The checkpoints in the Lithuanian direction will continue operating in the same mode.
