Experts predict what the world will be like after coronavirus pandemic

29 апреля 2020
The world will never be the same. It seems that today there is no more relevant and at the same time popular thesis on the planet. The pandemic has already fundamentally changed the way people in most countries work, communicate and consume. But it is hardly possible to imagine to the end what will be the consequences of this crisis after people return to their normal lives. 2020 will be the year of global structural transformation in society. A serious challenge for the world economy is the high unemployment rate. It could even become historic, the experts say. Many have questioned the model of globalization. Open borders, they say, have shown their vulnerability more than ever. The need for a digital agenda is increasing dramatically: online services help during the crisis to optimize the economy of companies. But that's just a visible part of the iceberg.

When the quarantine is over, many companies intend to keep the distance, employer surveys say. A lot of people would be happy not to go back to their offices. But it turned out that there are a lot more people who dream of going to work again. But it seems that thousands or even hundreds of thousands of workers around the world will have to adapt to the new reality.

Today, the pandemic is an opportunity for IT companies. And the crisis will make this business stronger. After all, the entrepreneur seeks to reduce costs, to spend resources more efficiently. Today, many of the world's IT giants are already doing everything necessary for the remote work. The current economic reality is best suited to the digitalization of industries and everyday life. The emergence of the coronavirus has accelerated the digitalization of the economy.

Vladimir Karyagin, Chairman of the Supreme Coordinating Council of the Republican Confederation of Entrepreneurship: "A provision of the Labour Code which legalized remote access, freelance, etc., came into force on February 22. That's the ordinary tool of our business today. Digitalization of economy should make several steps forward and, of course, affect the sphere of public administration".

And in general, experts assure that the current pandemic is the most powerful recession in the economy after the 30s of last century. About 200 million people may be unemployed in the second quarter. And the level of unemployment and poverty may approach the historical scale. There are even such bets: the economy is not in recession, but a temporary stop, the optimists say. And they expect the growth to start in the third quarter. And the experience of the past pandemics gives hope: the growth of the world economy afterwards may well overtake pre-crisis rates.
