Biometric passports introduced in Belarus from September 1

Along with the usual Belarusian passport, the country will introduce new biometric documents - biometric passports. The President signed the corresponding decree today. Their use will make it possible to automate the personal identification procedure, simplify the passage of passport control when crossing the border, and will contribute to the development of electronic services. The new type of documents will have a built-in microcircuit containing a photographic image, fingerprints, and other personal data of the owner.
