Alexander Volfovich clarifies tasks of Belarusian Armed Forces

Explaining what tasks are assigned to the Armed Forces of our country, Alexander Volfovich said, we are ready to respond to the aggravation of the situation, to the complex military and political situation that is now, unfortunately, not only in the world, but also in the Eastern European region - around the border of the Republic of Belarus.

And one should not look for pitfalls or draw parallels here. The surprise inspection is an adequate response to what is happening around our borders. We will just note a few striking examples. First, Lithuania signed a $495 million contract with the United States for the purchase of eight HIMARS multiple rocket launchers. Secondly, the United States of America approved the sale of 116 Abrams tanks to Poland.

Alexander Volfovich, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, described the situation on the borders of our country: "Unfortunately, today, against the backdrop of the situation by the United States of America, the leadership of the collective West, against the background of the special military operation in Ukraine and, arguing that the USS threatens the security of European countries, military groups are created around Belarus, our neighbors are being armed and militarized. This creates certain challenges and threats to the national security of our country."

According to him, the way the neighboring Poland is arming today and the measures they take for their armed forces can't but cause concern. "Just a few days ago the Polish port unloaded 100 Korean-made K-2 Black Panther battle tanks, self-propelled howitzers, which will go to arm the newly formed 18th Mechanized Division of Poland. The purchase of Abrams is underway. And in general the number of exercises that are now taking place in the neighboring territory, both planned and unplanned, cannot but cause concern.

Alexander Volfovich explained what tasks are set for the Belarusian Armed Forces

Last week there were about five exercises in Poland, Lithuania and Latvia near the borders of the Republic of Belarus, he said. "The grouping today in Europe consists of 18 battalion tactical groups of permanent readiness. There are 10 battalion tactical groups of permanent readiness directly on the borders of the Republic of Belarus in Poland, Lithuania and Latvia. So we have to keep our battalion tactical groups in readiness, to be sure that our Armed Forces with the peacetime kit will be ready to fight back and defend the territory of the Republic of Belarus," he said.
