Police crack down hard on protests at US universities

Measures to suppress dissent in the stronghold of democracy shocked former lawyers. The international human rights organization Human Rights Watch sharply criticized the reaction in the United States to student demonstrations in support of Palestine. According to the organization, it has become too harsh and, in addition, deprives the participants of the right to peaceful protest. And here are fresh examples: in Virginia, police attacked students at the state's largest technological university in Blacksburg. The enforcers tore down the protesters' tent city and detained several dozen people.

Another Democratic crackdown on dissenters took place on the campus of the University of Austin in Texas. Police used tear gas and flash-bang grenades and detained about 40 people. Overall, protests have already engulfed more than 20 campuses in the US, including the prestigious Yale University. The protesters have already been suspended from classes. However, this has not diminished the students' determination. According to the Washington Post, about 900 people have been arrested at pro-Palestinian demonstrations over the past ten days.
