A pro-government rally for the adoption of the law on foreign agents was finally held in Tbilisi. According to the organizers' assessment, the action gathered far more supporters than any opposition protest. For several hours, leaders of the Georgian Dream party, including its founder, who has distinguished himself for his harsh statements on the war in Ukraine and the West, addressed the demonstrators from a stage set up in front of the parliament building.
Bidzina Ivanishvili, founder of the Georgian Dream party:
“For them, Georgia and Ukraine are like cannon fodder. They pushed Georgia against Russia back in 2008, and in 2014 and 2022 they put Ukraine in an even worse situation. The main reason for the aggression of the "global war party" against Georgia is that despite great efforts they failed to turn it into a second front, which could have been achieved if their agents had been in the Georgian government.”
In turn, the Mayor of Tbilisi said at the event that "the West - through NGOs and NPOs tried to tell the people of Georgia that "black is white and LGBT propaganda is good". It should be noted that the day before the Committee of the Georgian Parliament supported the draft law "On Transparency of Foreign Influence" in the second reading.
