EU intends to impose duties on Belarusian and Russian grain

Another madness of Europe. According to the Financial Times, the European Commission in the coming days will introduce duties on grain from Russia and Belarus in the amount of 95 euros per ton. The publication notes that this should lead to an increase in prices for this grain by at least 50% and reduce demand for it. Duties of 50% will also be introduced on Russian and Belarusian oilseeds and oilseed products.

It should be noted that earlier Brussels rejected such an idea, arguing that the restriction of grain imports could undermine global food markets and harm developing countries. But under pressure from Poland and the Baltics, they probably decided to change their position.
