Blockade of Donbass becomes key issue of negotiations within Trilateral Contact Group

15 марта 2017

The Donbas blockade became the key topic of the talks of Trilateral Contact Group on the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis. Previously, official Kiev had made a decision to cut all road and rail routes to Donbass. The decision came into force today in connection with the alleged capture of Ukrainian enterprises and the exacerbation of the situation in the southeast.

Martin Sajdik, OSCE Special Representative in the Trilateral Contact Group:

"I want to express personal disappointment and concern over the situation that does not contribute to the success of Minsk process, but rather intensifies tension between the parties and brings a negative effect to the process of mutual rapprochement and cooperation."

Martin Sajdik also expressed his concern over the issue of security of observers of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Donbass. He also pointed to the existing limitations in the freedom of movement of mission members.
