Winter Olympic Games in South Korea kick off in 50 days

By Kristina Kamysh: The whole world is waiting for the greatest sports festival of the year. The Winter Olympics kick off in just 50 days in South Korea.

At the moment, the national team of Belarus has won 24 licenses. Belarusian athletes will perform in 6 sports – biathlon, freestyle skiing, skiing, downhill skiing, speed skating, and short track.

To support the national team, the National Olympic Committee launched a campaign Together with the Team. Its essence is simple: within the coming month, anyone can come up with a slogan for the national team, take a picture with any sports facility in the background or any object that is associated with the Olympic movement, and then send wishes to the athletes who will soon perform in PyeongChang. Fans should then post these photos in their social media with the official hashtags of the campaign. The organizers will choose the best pictures and deliver them to the headquarters of the Belarusian delegation in the Olympic village in South Korea.

Victoria Mennanova, the head of the Information Department, spokesperson for Belarus' National Olympic Committee:

"We are going to choose a couple of winners, and we will present them with souvenirs from the NOC of Belarus and autograph cards from the participants of our team at the upcoming Winter Olympics."

Meanwhile, PyeongChang is finishing its preparations for the Olympic Games. All the facilities are ready, and the last challenge that remains is the weather. Locals call this place the nearest village to the sky. PyeongChang is located high in the mountains, and it is the coldest point in the country. Forecasts say the Olympics can become the coldest season in the last quarter of a century in South Korea.

The Games kick off on 9 February.
