Alexander Lukashenko makes regular trip to affected areas of Chernobyl

It was important to give hope to local people that they are not abandoned. In 1999, the President initiated a complicated Polesie gasification project. In 2001 the revival and use of the resources in the region began. In 2003 he opened Gomel Republican Research Center for Radiation Medicine. In 2005 he decided to build a maize processing plant in Gomel region. Despite dangerous neighborhood, the President announced about successful reorientation of contaminated lands. In April 2011, Alexander Lukashenko visited the new building of Luninets district hospital. Young mothers and newborns received gifts from the President. In order to see the results with his own eyes, the President came to the festival of Slavgorod crafts.
