Belarus to set up association of leather raw material producers and consumers

The decision was taken Tuesday during the visit of the head of state to the tannery in Gatovo. Several years ago a large-scale modernization was carried out there, but the goals of the enterprise were not achieved. The government proposed to privatize the factory in order to solve the problems. 

However, the head of the state was totally against this decision. The alternative is the so-called union of suppliers, processors and tanneries, so as to increase the consumption of domestic raw materials. Some measures to protect our own market will be taken carefully, so as not to harm the partnership with other states. 

The head of state promised to visit the plant in Gatovo again early next year. While talking to the staff of the factory, the President said that despite the trend in some European countries, Belarus will not give up manufacturing natural leather products. Other issues were also discussed: there are no new decisions on the retirement age in Belarus and there will be no saving on health system. Production of a vaccine against COVID-19 based on Russian technologies will start in a week.
