The results of 25 years of the CIS operation, its current state and prospects of development were discussed yesterday in Bishkek by the leaders of the Commonwealth countries.

The jubilee summit was attended by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. The agenda of the forum was extensive. But the key topic was the reform of the organization. According to the President of Belarus, the CIS should become more attractive and influential in the international arena. The Commonwealth remains a popular platform for political and economic interaction. However, it should be adapted to modern realities.

At the same time, the work on adaptation of the Commonwealth to modern realities should be carried out precisely in the interests of the participating countries. According to the head of state, Belarus will expect much from Russia's chairmanship in the CIS next year.

The Presidents approved the program of cooperation in the fight against terrorism and extremism in the next three years, the convention on interregional cooperation. A package of documents on the development of cooperation in the humanitarian sphere was signed as well.
