Belarus today recalls a tragic date in history. 35 years ago, the largest man-made disaster occurred at Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. We still have to cope with its consequences.

Reconstruction of the affected regions is under the personal supervision of the President. The route of the President's working trips has been traditional for many years. Alexander Lukashenko gave additional instructions for the improvement and development of the region today during his working trip. The task is to clearly define the land plots where it is possible and necessary to build housing. It's important to use local raw materials and fuels as widely as possible. And today people are returning to live in their homeland.

A memory lain was created in memory of those who sacrificed themselves 35 years ago. Alexander Lukashenko took part in its laying. 35 maples symbolize 35 years since the catastrophe. A memorial sign was also installed there!

The Chernobyl accident is recognized as the largest man-made disaster in the history of mankind. Its consequences affected more than 20 countries, but the main blow fell on Belarus.

The feat of Chernobyl heroes shocked the whole world. They deliberately sacrificed themselves for the sake of the lives of others. The Chernobyl accident united the Belarusians in an effort to preserve the affected regions. Cities come to life,  people are returning, social facilities are opening up 35 years after the accident.

Over the next five years, it is necessary to formulate a development program for the affected regions, to finally revive these lands.

Those who experienced how difficult it was to restore the region did not miss the opportunity to personally thank the President for this. A spontaneous, but very sincere conversation with words of support, about health, youth, and the future of our country was held.

The President discussed the next step in the restoration of the region at the meeting with the leaders of the affected areas. The emphasis is also on new jobs. One of the promising areas for the development of these territories is logging and woodworking. The task is to develop a comprehensive program by September.
