A tradition that unites millions of Belarusians. Today the country is holding a national subbotnik. Every corner of Belarus has come out from the very morning to clean up after winter and beautify their land, where the brand is cleanliness. From small towns to big cities.

The President always takes part in the subbotnik. Alexander Lukashenko is working today in his small homeland. An apple orchard of 411 trees of five varieties is being planted there. These are fruits of domestic selection. 186 trees have been planted in advance, and today the front of work is 225 more. Then the whole plot will be handed over to the care of local schoolchildren.

"We are doing this to give it to schoolchildren. So that they would take care of it and take the results of their labor. As I said, every school should have its own garden plot, where you can pick and walk on the ground, touch with your hands. So that there would be less stupidity in the head. These schoolchildren will work here," the head of state said.

"This was a wasteland. We developed it. In order not to waste it, we decided to plant apple trees," said the President.

Alexander Lukashenko explained that there used to be peasant plots on the land under the planted garden. But now the land is used by village farmsteads.
